Seat teases next-generation Leon ahead of January debut

The new model is set to take cues from the latest Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia

Seat has revealed a teaser video showcasing some of the key design elements on its new Leon that’s being unveiled in January.

The short teaser shows numerous cues, but one of the most noticeable is the new LED lighting – something the outgoing Leon was also known for as it was the first car in its segment to be fitted with full LED lighting.

Teased in the video are the fourth-generation Leon’s new Matrix LED headlights, as well as a new full-width LED light bar at the rear, which is set to have a bespoke signature – something usually reserved for more expensive models.

The new model also adopts a fully digitalised interior, with few actual buttons on the centre console. A large touchscreen and digital instrument cluster are also shown in the FR-grade model – whether these will be fitted as standard is not yet known. The same stubby automatic gear selector as the latest eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf is also fitted.

Numerous other elements from the new Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia are also likely to make their way to the Leon – including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The all-new Leon will be unveiled on January 28 in hatchback form, with an estate version likely to be shown later in the year.
